Fun Fact

When we're not helping families achieve their dreams, we're building one of
our own - a school bus that's becoming a tiny home to travel in! Check it out!

In 2018, we stopped in to a ceramic shop on a whim in hopes of painting a school bus. The young lady working there went into the back and found one that had already been painted as a sample, but she said we could use that one. For us that was perfect. We repainted the school bus to model our next project…building a dream of ours…a skoolie.

We nearly froze while traveling home in our future tiny home on wheels on a chilly March evening from Lexington, Kentucky. (The heat finally discovered about 10 miles from home!) While driving, we came up with a name, SOFE (School’s Out For Ever), for our bus. That weekend marked the beginning of a lot of work.

After clearing out the inside of the bus, we raised the roof…20 inches. Removing windows and cutting our bus in half, essentially, was a bit of work, but as we cranked the ceiling away from the base of the bus, we began to envision all the extra space it will give to us while we travel.

Our expansion for space also included four slide outs, two on each side of the bus. They will be connected to a pulley system to open and close each one individually at the push of a button.

Today our bus is waiting for Spring to begin designing the interior. We are hoping to have it finished by next summer to travel all over the United States with our dogs!
